How to Use Weekly Reader Express
Search and Browse
Weekly Reader Express allows you to find articles, classroom-activity reproducibles, and teacher’s-guide content. You may search by entering keywords in the search dialog box at the top of the screen and selecting either “All Editions” or a specific magazine title. You may also browse the most recent issues by selecting “Elementary School Magazines” or “Middle & High School Magazines” from the left navigation bar and then clicking on an edition image.
“Browse by Date” allows you to quickly locate any issue of our magazines from school year 2000–01 to the present.
Using the Advanced Search utility you may also search by keyword; content type (articles, teacher’s guides, and/or classroom reproducibles); issue date; and/or magazine title. Any combination of these search parameters may be used to find content. In addition, you may click on “Search by State Standards” to find articles aligned to your state’s curricular standards.
Each Weekly Reader magazine featured in this database has its own home page. The home pages are accessible by clicking on the magazine titles located on the left side of each page.
Search Results
Search results fall into three main categories: Weekly Reader Articles, Weekly Reader Teacher's Guides, and Weekly Reader Classroom Reproducibles. The most recent search results are listed first and are identified by date, grade(s), and title. Click on the blue "View" links to open the associated assets.
Viewing an Article
When you perform a search or click on a page with content, you will find related links on the right side of the page (if related material is available). For example, if you search for a Weekly Reader article and view the article on the screen, the teacher's guide, classroom reproducibles, and answer key (when available) associated with or related to that article will be listed on the right-hand side of the screen.
E-Mail and Print Functions
You may e-mail or print articles, teacher's-guide content, reproducible activities, and answer keys by clicking on the printer or e-mail envelope icons located on the top of the page.
If you e-mail content to yourself or a co-worker, neither your e-mail address nor the recipient's will be used for any purpose other than to e-mail the content that you specify.
